The ARPS distinction (Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society) "is awarded for a high degree of proficiency and the demonstration of a high technical and visual competence in particular categories".

It one of the series of distinctions offered by the society, and involves the presentation of a panel of 15 pictures in one of a set of pre-defined categories.  The submission also includes a Hanging Plan and a Statement of Intent, explaining the thinking behind the panel.

I was awarded the ARPS in 2008 within the Visual Art category.
